SIGNIS Argentina awards a short film on tolerance at the 2017 Hacelo Corto Festival
Mannheim, November, 20th, 2017 (SIGNIS). At the 66th International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg, the Ecumenical Jury, appointed by SIGNIS and INTERFILM, awarded its prize, endowed with €1,500 by the Catholic FilmWork in Germany and the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), to the film: Une vie ailleurs (Life Beyond Me) directed by Olivier Peyon (France, Uruguay, 2017)
To whom belongs a child? Life Beyond Me focuses on this problem in an impressive emotional way. The film tells the painful process of respecting this basic question and stresses the importance of telling the truth. The ethical challenge is more than just a juridical case. The eyes of the protagonists are finally open for the perspective and dignity of the child with all consequences for their own life.
In addition, the Jury awarded a Commendation to Oralman (Returnee), directed by Sabit Kurmanbekov (Kazakhstan, 2017)
Returnee is a small and paradigmatic story on the importance of men's roots and the quest for the fatherland in times of worldwide migration.
The members of the Jury were Christoph Strack (Germany – President), Linda Dombrovsky (Hungary), Johannes Feisthauer (Germany) , Franz-Günther Weyrich (Germany) and Michel Zucker (France).
