Milan, March, 27th, 2018 (SIGNIS). At the 28th edition of the Festival of Cinema of Africa, Asia and Latin America in Milan, the SIGNIS jury gave its prize to the film Killing Jesus (Matar a Jesús) by Laura Mora Ortega (Colombia - 2017).

The jury explains that it has won this award "for its extraordinary ability to tell the cruelty and sweetness of the human soul, revenge and forgiveness, the encounter between two opposing worlds, violence that becomes beauty".

The Jury also gave a special commendation to Kamila Andini's The Seen and Unseen "for the authenticity, the mystery, the search for an unusual language of spiritual and poetic tales that make this film extraordinary. "

The SIGNIS jury has been present for 25 years at the Film Festival of Africa, Asia and Latin America in Milan. In 1993, the OCIC jury awarded its prize to Godwin Mawuru's film Neria from Zimbabwe.

Last year, Killing Jesus won the Special Award for the 60 years of the SIGNIS Jury in the San Sebastian Film festival (Spain).
This year, SIGNIS jury members are Vanessa Lanari, Cristina Beffa, Ana Maria Pedroso and Guerrero Riccardo Sorbello.
