Teheran, April, 27th, 2018 (SIGNIS). At the 36th Fajr International Festival (Iran), the Inter-Faith Jury, composed by two SIGNIS members and one member of the Muslim community, awarded the Turkish film Grain, by Semih Kaplanoğlu (2017).

Grain is a film about the near future, where climate change, genetic engineering and the depletion of nature will threaten humanity's survival. The search for a solution leads two scientists into a no man's land and in dimensions beyond rational knowledge.

The jury members said that “Semih Kaplanoğlu directed a film with stunning images, sometimes esoteric, with hints from the Bible and the Qur'an, which argues for a more spiritually oriented worldview and for the preservation of the creation.”

The members of the Inter-Faith Jury are: Thomas Kroll (Germany), Mohammadreza Zaeri (Iran) and Valerie De Marnhac (France)
