Young communicators from eleven Latin American countries participate in the SIGNIS-ALC training programme
Kampala, May, 23rd, 2017 (AMECEA). Catholic Communicators in Uganda recently met in the Diocese of Lugazi for their Annual Communication Week. Many activities, which included an Annual General Meeting (AGM), workshop on ‘Financial Planning and Management for non-Finance Managers’, and the celebration of the 51st World Communications Day (WCD) at National level, were organized.
WCD is usually celebrated by the Catholic Church annually on the Sunday before Pentecost, which fell on May 21 this year. However, the local Church can adjust the date according to its needs. This year’s theme as released by Pope Francis is ‘Fear not, for I am with you.’ (Isaiah 43:5): Communicating Hope and Trust in Our Time’.
Some of the participants include the Bishop Chairman of Social Communications Commission, Rt. Rev Joseph Franzelli, who is also the Bishop of Lira Diocese, heads of various social communications departments and commissions at both national and diocesan level as well as Catholic journalists in the country.
The Bishop of Lugazi Diocese, Rt. Rev Christopher Kakooza presided over the Thanksgiving Mass during the WCD celebration.
The 2017 National celebration has been organized by the Social Communications Department of the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) in collaboration with Kampala Ecclesiastical Province and hosted by the Diocese of Lugazi.
