UNESCO rolls out first African MOOC on freedom of expression and safety of journalists
Berlin, April, 13th, 2017 (CIVIS). CIVIS Prize, Europe’s most important media prize for integration and cultural diversity, will once again honour programmes on radio, in films, on television and on the internet. In 2017 the CIVIS Media Prize is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
CIVIS recognizes programme contributions on the radio, film, television and the Internet, which are particularly suitable for the promotion of the peaceful coexistence of people of different geographic or cultural backgrounds.
Terror, war, and a constant stream of crises: the European competition of the CIVIS Media Prize 2017 convinces with moving contemporary accounts, information and fictional dramatisations. Many of the excellent-quality programmes address changes and the consequences of globalisation, war and migration – very specific worries and fears about more refugees, politically or religiously motivated extremism, terrorist attacks, imported conflicts, integration problems of all kinds.
CIVIS was looking for programmes which promote the peaceful coexistence of people of different national, ethnic, religious or cultural backgrounds. A total of 783 programmes from 24 EU states and Switzerland were sent to the organisation. You van have an overview of all nominated programmes here.
The prize winners in the categories radio, film, television and internet will be announced publicly during the CIVIS prize ceremony on the evening of the 1 June 2017, at a celebratory TV gala in the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
