“I know how this story ends; I think about it a lot”. Ted Chiang, Story of Your Life
The beautifully short story, Story of Your Life, which inspired the film Arrival, by Denis Villeneuve, is a deep reflection on the creative power of language. As though our words and actions were confirmed through remembering the future
On the path of hope in Christ, this seems to have a profound meaning that encourages, nourishes and thrills us. For thousands of Catholic communicators, this incarnation of hope has concrete expressions and stories, which we need to look at afresh. World Communications Day invites us to communicate hope and confidence, virtues that allow humanity and community to flourish, and without which the darkness of egoism would be the only path possible.
So, as we move towards our Québec Congress, this global event that brings all of us together every four years, to renew ourselves as SIGNIS, hope is the word, the form and the meaning that we want to say and do.
There are many projects, some of which are covered in this issue of SIGNIS Media, which restore hope in a world illuminated by the light of resurrection, which communicate as never before and forever, a real hope.
